Short-Term Disability Benefits
The Short-Term Disability (STD) Plan pays benefits when you can’t work due to a non-occupational illness or injury or while on maternity leave. You have a choice of two STD coverage levels:
- Company-paid Basic STD: Replaces a portion of your base pay.
- Buy-Up STD: Replaces 100% of your base pay. You pay for Buy-Up STD coverage with pre-tax payroll contributions.
Basic STD coverage is automatic and paid by L3Harris. If you opt out of the STD Buy-Up Plan, you can enroll during annual enrollment only. You pay the full cost for STD Buy-Up coverage through pre-tax payroll contributions.
Long-Term Disability Benefits
The Long-Term Disability (LTD) Plan pays benefits for approved disabilities that extend beyond the STD period. The Plan replaces a portion of your annual benefits base rate (ABBR), which is your current base pay plus any incentive pay targeted for the current benefit year, if applicable.
You can enroll in the LTD Plan at any time on the enrollment site, subject to pre-existing condition limitations. You pay the full cost for LTD coverage on an after-tax basis, so any LTD benefits you receive are not taxed.
Paid Time Off
It is L3Harris’ intent to provide employees with paid time off (PTO) to rest and recharge throughout the year for various reasons, including but not limited to vacation leave, time off for holidays, sick leave, jury duty and bereavement leave.
For additional information on the PTO plans, visit MyNexus > Company > Corporate Policy Library > Human Resources.
Paid Parental Leave
Parental leave provides up to four weeks of paid time off for child bonding that can be taken within the first 12 months following a birth, placement for adoption, foster care or legal guardianship, or surrogacy. (This is in addition to STD benefits for mothers.) The policy offers the flexibility of taking approved time off all at once or in one-week increments, as needed. Your pay and benefits will continue during the leave.
For additional information on paid parental leave, refer to HR-10 LOA in MyNexus > Company > Corporate Policy Library > Human Resources.
Caregiver Time Off Program
The caregiver program allows you to reduce your work schedule or stop working for up to four weeks to care for a loved one, including your parents, children and grandparents.
For additional information on the caregiver time off program, refer to HR-10 LOA in MyNexus > Company > Corporate Policy Library > Human Resources.
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
FMLA is a federal policy that protects your employment and healthcare benefits for up to 12 weeks of leave due to a qualified family and medical reason, including birth or adoption of a child, your serious health condition, or to care for a family member with a serious health condition. Any L3Harris disability or leave policy will run concurrent with FMLA, if applicable.
Military Leave
L3Harris provides military leave to employees who are members of the armed forces, including active duty, active-duty training, deployment and reserves, allowing you to fulfill your military service obligations. For more information, refer to HR-10 LOA in MyNexus > Company > Corporate Policy Library > Human Resources.
